A native Oregonian, Katy has a lifelong interest in yoga that began with a yoga class she took at the Portland “Y” as a teen in the sixties. When she joined with dina Lang in 2010 to open Santosha Yoga in Bethany Village her goal was to bring yoga as well as a place to build community in the growing Bethany/Cedar Mill area. Opening a small business was secondary, something she had never considered doing.
Yoga, she believes, is worth making time for. Not only does it bring her into contact with her community in a positive way but she says that… “It helps me keep my focus in an increasingly distracting world as well as maintain calm and perspective as a mother, friend, part-time teacher at PCC, and as a business partner and teacher at Santosha Yoga.” People often come to yoga for one reason, but stay on for another. In Katy’s case, yoga has also become a significant part of her rehabilitation: first from a complete shoulder replacement in March of 2013 and now as part of preventive care of an ‘aging’ knee.
Santosha Yoga offers classes every day of the week and classes to meet all levels of yoga and different interests. All of the teachers at Santosha have received advanced training in yoga and are ready to guide you safely in your yoga practice. Santosha Yoga also offers private lessons, classes for children and youth, workshops, meditation courses as well as a 200 hour Teacher Training.
